Your Ticket to a Successful Career! A visit to the Student Success Center (SSC) will enable you to learn about the many career choices that await you at CVTC. Whether you are preparing for a new career or updating your work skills, the SSC staff can help you make that next step successfully.
No appointment is needed but you may want to schedule a time to come in so we may prepare for your visit, especially if you want to spend time with a career counselor.

Steps to Becoming a CVTC Student SSC Counselors will personally assist you in becoming a CVTC student. The enrollment process requires that you to take the following steps: 1. Select a program of study from among the over 100 offered at CVTC. SSC counselors are available to assist you in making this choice if you are undecided. Call the SSC and ask about our free career counseling services and assessments such as Career Scope and Magellan which can provide you with career direction.

3. Pay a non-refundable $15 application fee
4. Take the CVTC COMPASS placement In some instances, other test scores, such as the Asset, ACT or SAT, or college transcripts may be accepted in lieu of this exam. Talk to a SSC staffer to determine if this is an option for you.
5. Meet with a Student Success Center staffer to register for classes Note: An official transcript from high school or an offical transcript of GED scores must be submitted prior to registering for classes. Students who have earned an associate degree or higher may provide an official college transcript in lieu of a high school transcript. Students cannot register for classes until transcripts are received.

6. Participate in New Student Orientation
7. Meet with a Financial Aid representative
8. Begin classes
Note: Applicants who qualify for admission to a health occupation program are required to complete additional information forms, including physical and dental reports and personal references.

Transfer Students Regular admission of a transfer student to a degree, diploma, or technical certificate program is contingent upon the applicant satisfying the following requirements:
• Regular admission and in good standing at a regionally accredited diploma or degree institution. • Proper completion of application and related procedures.
Postsecondary Options Admission High school seniors may attend Coosa Valley Technical College in lieu of returning to their regular high school during their senior year. With satisfactory progress, those participating in this program will earn a diploma from Coosa Valley Technical College in addition to their high school diploma.
Tech Prep Admission Coosa Valley Technical College has agreements with many area high schools that allow their graduates to receive credit at CVTC for certain courses completed at the high school level. To receive tech prep credit at CVTC, a student must meet admissions requirements and have a properly completed Tech Prep Agreement. Go to the Tech Prep Web Site
Official transcripts of high school and/or postsecondary credit must be received by the Office of Student Services within 30 days of application to establish Tech Prep or transfer credit.
